Excellent service is our goal. Medical practices are busy places! With reduced reimbursements, increased paperwork and added layers of bureaucracy it can be very difficult to maintain a professional and courteous environment. We strive to do this though building friendly relationships with our patients. You can expect a warm welcome and willingness to make sure you are comfortable in our office. The fresh eyes of our patients often see areas where we could improve. Please do us the honor of telling us where improvement could be achieved and we will work hard to reach the level of care you are requesting. All comments are appreciated.  If there is something you need to make your experience more pleasant, please do not hesitate to ask. Also, Sowell Podiatry is constantly working to reduce waiting times in our office.

Like all medical specialties, Podiatry is constantly changing.  Dr. Sowell works hard to make sure he is up to date on his field and he employs those new techniques, treatments and medications that make sense for his practice and patients.  Dr. Sowell has been the first in East Texas to perform many foot surgery techniques and is constantly looking for ways to heal wounds more quickly.  He also is involved in sharing his ideas for products that he feels would benefit his patients to companies in hopes of improving his patient’s care.  Dr. Sowell also actively teaches his staff to make sure they know what is new in podiatry.

Smelly Feet

By · Comments (0)

Throughout life there might be times when we are bothered by how our feet smell.  If I had a nickel every time the mother of a teenage boy was embarrassed by his smelly feet I could travel more…just kidding. Some suffer with excessive sweating (hyperhydrosis) and bacterial skin infection that can lead to malodor.  In my practice I like to start with a simple solution and if it does not work then we can try something more aggressive. In the case of “smelly feet” I recommend tea soaks.  Simply boil some water (enough for a foot bath), steep a few tea bags and let the water cool to a point you could put your elbow in it without discomfort.  Then soak your feet for about fifteen minutes and do this daily for two weeks.  The tannic acid in tea should lower the pH enough to kill surface bacteria and should help shrink sweat glands a bit.  A few puffs of Lysol in the shoe never hurt either. If this does not do the trick the call and make an appointment at Sowell Podiatry and we will get to the bottom of the problem!

We provide a clean and comfortable office environment where all instruments are stored and sterilized appropriately. Current magazines, comfortable chairs and warm décor are just the beginning. If you feel you need something, please feel free to ask the staff and we will do our best. We follow industry standards concerning sterilization and instrument packaging while providing our friendly podiatric services. We use an autoclave.
